Italian migration Story Project

"OUR ANCESTORS- Stories, Memories and Histories"

The Ligure Club and the Italian Genealogical Group (IGG) invites you to contribute to a special project dedicated to preserving and celebrating Italian family legacies. We're requesting stories about your family’s migration from Italy to America.

By sharing your story, you’ll help build a valuable resource for future generations, leaving a legacy not only for your family but also for researchers and members of the IGG community. Stories will be collected for book publication and displayed on the IGG's Ancestry Wall of Remembrance website.

Submissions Guidelines:

  • Length: 250–1,000 words.
  • Content: Share a meaningful family migration story from Italy to America.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How will contributors be credited?
Contributors' names will be credited as authors in the book.

Is there any compensation for submitting stories?
No, participation is purely voluntary. The IGG is a non-profit that operates through membership dues and events.

How are stories selected for the book?
An editing team reviews all submissions to ensure clarity and accuracy. Stories must focus on Italian immigrants coming to the United States. Authors will be consulted during the editing process.

Will contributors approve edits to their stories?
Yes, stories will not be published without the contributor’s approval.

Who retains copyright and ownership of the stories?
Contributors retain full ownership of their stories and can use them for other purposes. The IGG archives the stories and registers the book with the Library of Congress.

How will the book be distributed?
The book will be printed in limited runs, with copies available for purchase by members and the community. Bulk orders are possible at reasonable prices.
